Jói is 25 year old graphic designer and photographer living but mostly working in Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2006 he graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts with a B.A. in Graphic Design. Since then he worked at an advertising agency called Jonsson og Le'macks until in february he moved to New York for three months to assist a photographer.
I met Jói in 2007 when he had an exhibition in Reykjavík. I proposed coffee. We had a nice talk on a wooden roof terrace in the middle of the city. When we left I told him I was going to attend the Mini-Festival at a place called "Iđno". He offered me a ride. "But you must excuse me",he said, "I use my car as an ashtray." "Alright", I said. When I finally got into his car, I started laughing. He had said the truth. The man uses his car as an ashtray.
